Barbara Rubin and the Exploding New York Underground

USA 2018 | 78 minutes | English | Hebrew subtitles

Underground filmmaker Barbara Rubin’s 1964 controversial masterpiece Christmas on Earth, shattered boundaries and shocked the NY experimental film scene. A rare female voice in a world of powerful men, Rubin introduced Andy Warhol to the Velvet Underground and Bob Dylan to the Kabbalah. But by the 1960s, she converted to Hasidic Judaism and vanished. An expressionistic portrait of this radical and enigmatic artist, whose life was tragically cut short at 35.
