Czech Film Week is back and live again!

The screening of the best Czech films returns to cinemas in 2021, after a difficult period of corona virus. We will offer you a total of six films in five Israeli cities, in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Herzliya and Holon. We will opent the festival with the best Czech film of the last year, Charlatan (Šarlatán) directed by Agnieszka Holland, which won 5 Czech Lion Awards.

Another awarded film that we will be screening is Droneman directed by Petr Zelenka. This is the very first Czech film that was partly shot in Israel.

This year we are celebrating the 180th anniversary of the birth of one of the world's most famous composers, Antonín Dvořák, and we will commemorate his life and work with a film by director Jaromil Jireš.

One of the most famous Czech actors, who is also the president of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Jiří Bartoška then stars in other succesfull movie, the comedy Tiger Theory, which already has a Dutch remake created in 2020.

Even this year, there are again films from the famous Czechoslovak film era of the 1960s, Behold Homolka (Ecce Homo Homolka) from 1969 and Coach to Vienna directed by Karel Kachyňa and with one of the best Czech actresses of all time, Iva Janžurová, who is celebrating her 80th birthday this year.

Ecce homo Homolka
