In 1965, playwright Peter Weiss adapted the Frankfurt Auschwitz trial in a documentary style to the theater. The play, which is reduced to a lyrical lament, confronts the victims and their perpetrators and provides a look at the horrors of Auschwitz. The play has lost none of its horrors and is based on newspaper reports and documents from the trial (which took place between 1963-65). The Investigation adapts the play with the participation of 60 actors and brings the original text to life on the big screen.
