Berlin, 1931. Jakob Fabian works as an advertising copywriter for a cigarette company during the day. At night, he drifts through cabaret bars, brothels, and artist studios. When he meets aspiring actress Cornelia, love blossoms. But as his world begins to crumble, the rest of the world is about to fall apart. Dominik Graf adapts Erich Kästner's book, a work that defines the tragic, hedonistic, and dysfunctional era of the Weimar Republic.
