Sixteenth century Prague. The emperor seeks to expel the Jewish community. To protect his people, Rabbi Loew creates the Golem—a powerful clay figure brought to life through magic. After the Golem saves the emperor’s life, the expulsion is revoked. But soon, the creature turns on its creator, unleashing chaos....

Inspired by an ancient Hebrew legend and considered a precursor to the myth of Frankenstein, The Golem is a landmark of early German cinema and a cornerstone of the horror genre. Presented in a 4K digital restoration, courtesy of Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Stiftung.
