The vast majority of secular Jews who have become religious have failed to integrate within Haredi society. The ultra-Orthodox do not marry them and refuse to accept their children to the best educational institutions, as these newly-Orthodox Jews suffer from poverty, divorce, unemployment, and the second generation’s rebellion. In 2009, in a process that has gained momentum, newly-observant Jews gathered and called to disengage from ultra-Orthodox society. Reflected Light follows the “Ba'alei Teshuva” as they choose to establish communities, educational institutions, and to return to their Israeli identity.
