A gang of thieves, wearing masks of former US presidents, rob a series of banks in Los Angeles. With no leads to go on, but a gut feeling that they are surfers, a young FBI is sent to join the surfers and find the offenders. Point Break is Keanu Reeves' breakthrough role as an action star, a decade before The Matrix. Kathryn Bigelow directs the film with gusto, with a constantly moving camera, in the air, sea, and land, and relies on the tranquil charisma of Patrick Swayze and the sweet innocence of Reeves. Bigelow observes her heroes with equal appreciation and revulsion. The result is a gripping and enjoyable film.
