Lilli arrives in an uninspiring coastal town and takes residence in a caravan on the beach, thus ending years of traveling in cover bands. She's still trying to maintain a rock'n'roll lifestyle, at least when it comes to sleep and alcohol. Her only friend is 16-year-old Ally, who handle her with patience and generosity. But when Lilli sees Ally with her mother, she realizes their relationship is more complex than she thought. High Tide is a triumphant family drama that manages to exceed expectations and treats its characters and their instabilities without sentimentality. “Guided by Gillian Armstrong and Judy Davis [both of which will move from here to Hollywood] – we can peek into the abyss, and still never lose sight of the sun blazing down overhead" (Los Angeles Times).
