Diana Budisavljevic leads a comfortable life among the Zagreb upper-middle class alongside her family. In the fall of 1941, she learns that Jewish and Christian Orthodox women and children are being taken to the Ustasha camps, where they are left to die of starvation and disease. Since the Jewish community can only send provisions to Jewish prisoners, the Christian Orthodox women and children are left helpless. Taking matters into her own hands, Diana begins collecting provisions and organizes a campaign that, by the end of World War II, will have saved more than 10,000 children. Based on the diaries of Diane Budisavljevic (1941-1945), this captivating and sophisticated docu-drama interweaves dramatic enactments with survivors’ testimonies.
