The Sixth International Jerusalem Writers Festival, taking place in Mishkenot Sha’ananim on 08-11.05.2018, is a key event in the literary world in Israel. The festival will host authors with unique voices, many of whom will be visiting Israel for the first time.

The Adventures of Saul Bellow

Director Asaf Galay will screen – for the first time in Israel and exclusively for the Writers Festival – excerpts from his documentary The Adventures of Saul Bellow. The film combines interviews with Philip Roth, Martin Amis, and others, and presents rare footage of Bellow in Jerusalem and at Mishkenot Sha’ananim. Galay will speak with writer and literary critic Dr. Arik Glasner.

Has Television Killed Literature?

Nathan Hill, whose highly acclaimed book The Nix is currently being adapted into a television series starring Meryl Streep, will talk to Dror Mishani and Noa Yedlin about the adaptation of their books for television and the constant tension between the two fields. Moderated by: Noa Menhaim. The event will be held in English.
