This film tells the story of three generations within a Dalit family in India, whose livelihood depends on cultivating poppies under the watchful eye of a government office that regulates narcotics. Each morning, the grandmother and her grandson head to the fields, hoping their hard work will yield a good harvest. Meanwhile, the father works as a teacher and dedicates his free time to fighting the corruption that shadows their lives. Should they pay bribes to officials or stand up against them? The lives of these three characters and the poppy fields they tend are woven together into a compelling, striking, and haunting cinematic journey.
