Sasson runs a vegetable stand in Jerusalem’s Mahane Yehuda market. One night, he meets the beautiful Dalia—but she already has a boyfriend, an Ashkenazi, like her. Determined to win her over, Sasson searches for her everywhere, even pretending to be a student at the Hebrew University. Ironically, Dalia turns out to be the daughter of Cohen, an elderly market vendor whose stand is right next to Sasson's. Once again, we’re treated to a popular tale that parodies the world of the wealthy Ashkenazim while celebrating the poetic warmth and closeness of “the people.”
