Mississippi, 1930s. The Moore brothers return home after years as criminals in Chicago and open a blues club for a Black audience—in a state still ruled by segregation laws—entrusting the music to their guitarist cousin. Three women quickly enter their lives, but as the music, passion, and atmosphere intensify, mysterious guests begin to arrive—from heaven, or perhaps hell. Ryan Coogler, one of Hollywood’s leading directors (Black Panther), creates a genre-bending film that begins as a musical social drama and gradually shifts into horror. The result is an electrifying sensory experience "that shouldn’t work—but does, thanks to Coogler’s muscular direction, a terrific cast, enveloping visuals, body-quaking sound, and music that stirs the soul while setting the pulse racing” (Hollywood Reporter).
