Once Upon a Time in Algeria tells the story of a filmmaker’s journey to his hometown of Algiers. He returns to present a feature-length film while being accompanied by his young son, who was the same age as him when he left Algeria in 1962. The filmmaker walks around Algiers and through the memories of a little boy not quite like others, while reliving moments of happiness, laughter, and tears from an idyllic childhood left long ago.
