Taraneh is a good girl. Her father is in prison. Her mother is dead. She is a good student and contributes the money she earns to her grandmother, with whom she lives. She even has a fiancé, but after the wedding he runs off to Germany, leaving her pregnant. His mother denies that her son is the father. And then Taraneh's grandmother dies. Against all odds, Taraneh decides to keep the child. Like the Iranian films that have come before it, this film endows its melodramatic plot in utter and breathtaking simplicity.
