Babel

A rifle shot sets off three plot lines: the first follows an American tourist injured by a bullet while on an organized tour in Morocco. The second focuses on the young children of the injured tourist and her husband, who were left back home with their Mexican housekeeper. She wants to go to Mexico for her son's wedding and, lacking a better solution, takes the kids along with her. The third story is set in Tokyo, where the traces of the gun subtly lead. Alejandro González Iñárritu lays out each of his protagonist's motives perfectly and logically. Add to this his sweeping and often aggressive cinematic style, and you will understand why Babel is considered one of the best films of the last few years.
