The movie screened in the Typologies series explores questions of cinematic genres. The screening turns an inquisitive, almost encyclopedic eye at the “elementary particles” of the genre. The film will consist of three types of scenes contributed by artists from different disciplines. The artists were asked to select a scene that relates to the expression “blood, sweat, and tears,” which almost becomes the movie’s synopsis: fight scenes (blood), sex scenes (sweat), and crying scenes (tears). The fluidity of the categories outlines a new sequence where an expression of pain is confused with ecstasy, a feature film where punching, screams, and sex intermingle to create a new cinematic celebration.
