Dear Friends,
"The camera makes everyone a tourist in other people's reality, and eventually in one's own,"
wrote the Jewish-American writer and director, Susan Sontag. Indeed, there is nothing like the film medium in affording us a unique visit to other worlds both near and far, which are often also a reflective glimpse into our own lives.
The Jerusalem Film Festival has been a leading and vital stage for Israeli and international films for the past 37 years, a source of inspiration for many inside and outside of the film industry, in Jerusalem and abroad.
Its rich artistic program, hosting 200 films from 50 different countries, also serves a badge of honor, testimony to the rich fabric of cultural works that characterize Jerusalem, and find expression in a wide range of arts and crafts.
Jerusalem welcomes you all, guests of the festival: whether you are actors and performers, directors, producers, distributors, film enthusiasts, and more. I am sure that each and every one of you is looking forward to a special experience, and I sincerely hope you enjoy your visit to the festival, and not least, to our city, Jerusalem, the capital of Israel.
Sincerely yours,
Moshe Lion
