Lev Tolstoy is at the center of this film, which examines his relationship with his family, society, and surroundings. The film reveals Tolstoy's inner world, his feverish search for the truth, and his contradictions. Shortly before his death, the ailing Tolstoy leaves his wife Sonya and the family estate and finds himself at a train station, which becomes the last station in his life. What did he run from and where did he want to go? The film interweaves family photos and archive segments, presents unknown facts, and unfolds the ultimate journey of the revered writer.
