Rumba

Belgium, France 2008 | 77 minutes | French | Hebrew subtitles

Fiona and Dom are primary school teachers, but their life's passion is Latin ballroom dance competitions, where they are sizzling on the dancefloor. Their lives drastically change after a car accident. Now, the two have to discover the strength that will bring them back to dance and each other. Following a successful career in theater and cabaret, Fiona Gordon and Dominique Abel made Rumba, a comedy with minimal dialogue, but with an abundance of movement and physical humor. It reminded critics of the comedies of Buster Keaton and Jacques Tati - perhaps the greatest masters of visual humor. "You will need to be a little patient and indulgent with this brand of comedy, but its sweetness of nature will win you round" (The Guardian).
