The process of gold mining in the Amazon causes mercury to enter the drinking water of the Munduruku people. The quest of the Mundurukus to understand the devastating effect of gold mining on their ancestral territory while discovering how the Minamata disease, which results from mercury pollution, threatens the inhabitants of the Amazon today is at the center of the film. Local activists and medical research team members join forces to deal with the sources of pollution and to ensure the health and future of the younger generation and preserve their heritage.
