In 1938, physician Carlo Levi was banished, by the government, to south Italy for his anti-Fascist views. The encounter with the local community, far from anything he has ever known, was instrumental to his political views. The publication of his memoirs about his experiences will become a shocking document in Italy post-WWII. Based on Levi's words, Francesco Rosi created a television series shortened for a theatrical release. This version revisits the original and full work, presenting Rosi's sublime vision.
