In this classic musical fantasy, Judy Garland stars as Dorothy Gale, a young Kansas farm girl who dreams of a land “somewhere over the rainbow”. Dorothy’s dream comes true when she, her dog, Toto, and her family’s house are transported by a tornado to a bright and magical world unlike anything she has seen before, searching of the enigmatic Wizard of Oz. Victor Fleming's excellent direction, Garland's wonderful performance, the eternal music - all of these have made The Wizard of Oz one of the greatest and most beloved films produced in classic Hollywood. Winner of Academy Awards for the classic song Over the rainbow and for “Best Score”. A Special Oscar for “best juvenile performer of the year” was awarded to Judy Garland (1940).
