When a giant shark terrorizes a New England community on the shore, three men – a local policeman, a marine biologist, and a shark hunter, set out to protect the beach. Spielberg's first blockbuster made him a star director. His ability to play with the viewers’ emotions, maneuvering them between empathy and horror and his brilliant command of cinematic means is already evident in Jaws. The film altered 1970s Hollywood and commercial cinema that followed, but above all, this is just a spectacular and brilliant work.
