How to go about creating a film that would visually capture the essence of blindness? To that end, the directors chose Theologian, John Hall who, from 1983-1986, had recorded a series of audio diaries chronicling his descent into blindness. The recordings were adapted into an acclaimed book, and now comes the film which takes us behind the withering eyes of a fascinating, sensitive man as he shares a mix of profound philosophical musings alongside private, painful observations.
The film, which opened at Sundance this year leaves a profound mark thanks to breathtaking reconstructions based on Hall’s recordings; “elegant, evocative and deeply affecting documentary.” (Wendy Ide, Screen)
