Janis is a professional photographer who, while trying to raise money for a new project, discovers she is pregnant. In the delivery room, she meets Ana, she is young and scared of becoming a single mother. Their parallel stories will create a very close link between the two. In Pedro Almodóvar's world, women are superheroes and their powers - to overcome the hardships of life, the difficulties of parenthood, and the secrets of the past - are a source of inspiration and admiration. But this will always come with a price, and Almodóvar always knows how to gently depict the cracks that emerge from struggling to survive. Here, with a magnificent performance by the cast, spectacular cinematography and aesthetics, and a Hitchcockian soundtrack, the result "is a movie of infinite tenderness" (Time Magazine).
