L’argent

Switzerland, France 1983 | 85 minutes | French | Hebrew subtitles

A forged 500-franc note falls into the hands of a young man, who innocently uses it to make a purchase. But one thing leads to another, and the events escalate into theft and murder. A free adaptation of a novella by Tolstoy, Bresson's final film (he was 67 at the time) completes a trilogy—after Four Nights of a Dreamer and The Devil, Probably—dedicated to the young generation of the 1970s and 1980s.
