A Mission: Impossible team operation fails, and critical intelligence is stolen. Ethan Hunt - the senior and most experienced agent - is the sole survivor and the prime suspect. While evading the intelligence agency hunting him, he tries to uncover the traitor and recover the stolen data before it's exposed. This plot allowed Brian De Palma and Tom Cruise to turn the 1960s TV series into an effective mid-'90s action film. De Palma directs with virtuosity, leaning on Cruise’s athletic presence while keeping his signature irony and subversion. The result is a twisty, fast, and slightly cheeky action film - possibly the best in the series that is pure fun.
