During a police raid, a man is shot in the head and injured. When he wakes up after a long period of unconsciousness, he remembers nothing. His friends claim that he is Hoffman, a quiet biogenetics researcher who happened to stumble upon a crime scene. Others claim that he is a dangerous terrorist using his profession as a cover. Hoffman cannot provide an answer. He relearns to walk, talk, and feel. At the same time as he understands, he begins a search for the truth. He locates a police officer who was involved in the incident and the threats, and asks for his help.
