Mentally challenged Chloe is very attached to her cat. She also likes Jed, who is similarly challenged. When they decide to get married, the cat jumps from Jed's arms and is run over. Devastated, Chloe claims there is no point in marriage, at least until she can find a purpose in life. Jed questions passers-by on this question until he reaches Max, a cranky junk dealer. In his emotional film, Fridriksson treats his "mentally challenged" protagonists as equals, without sympathy or condescension.
