Pierre Girard, a renowned writer and explorer, almost dies in a car accident and decides to embark on a journey across France's hidden paths. On the Wandering Paths is a portrait of France and of the hero observing it. The expedition, of course, is full of encounters, but the focus is on the man's footsteps through the exquisite and sweeping nature - a passage that brings up thoughts, uncertainties, and insights about the journey, and life itself.
