When a stunt on a film set goes wrong, stuntman Colt's career is cut short and so is his flirtation with cinematographer assistant, Jody. A year and a half later, he has a chance to save the flirtation and his career when he is offered a job on the set of her first film. This starting point is used by David Leitch, who started his career as a stuntman and is now an action director, to deliver one of the first hits of the summer of 2024: a romantic comedy wrapped in an action plot. It may be a cliché, but thanks to the great chemistry between Gosling and Blunt, with their generous performances, the result has won over critics and audiences alike. The Fall Guy is "all a fizzy, funny, convincingly romantic delight, a tribute to the craft of making big movies with big stunts that is heartfelt in its appreciation without taking itself too seriously" (The Guardian).
