Nowhere Boy

UK 2009 | 98 minutes | English | Hebrew subtitles

Liverpool, the 1950s. When his uncle passes away, the young John Lennon meets his mother for the first time. The meeting with Julia, who lives a few blocks from his home, changes his life forever…. Nowhere Boy, based on the memoir written by Lennon’s half-sister, is an attempt to describe and comprehend the defining moments in Lennon’s youth, moments before he and his friends became a legend. In doing so, Sam Taylor-Wood attempts to decipher the persona that was Lennon – the more damaged, mysterious, and intriguing member of The Beatles. The film employs unique cinematic tools and an excellent cast.
