Russia’s war against Ukraine has reached the two-year mark. In response, French philosopher and filmmaker Bernard-Henri Lévy along with co-director Marc Roussel, spend the summer in eastern Ukraine recording Ukraine’s courage on the battlefield, while also depicting Russia’s continuous attacks on civilians. With unprecedented access, the filmmakers capture the horrors of war, the hopefulness and deep humanity of the Ukrainian citizens, and a civilian resilience and resistance unlike any other. It is an ode to the heroism of the Ukrainians and a plea for the West to keep the love of liberty and the courage of the truth in its heart.
