The Children’s Hour

Karen and Martha established an all-girls boarding school. After reprimanding one of the students, she spreads a rumor that the two are a couple and upends their lives. Wyler directs this drama with his signature cinematic skill: with precise performances by Hepburn and MacLaine, and especially with tremendous camera work: the use of black and white tones, the framing, and the movement within the frame - which add another layer of interpretation to the drama on screen.
