Mike Leigh's film features a year in the life of a group of friends in London. Gerri and Tom, she's a psychotherapist, he's a geologist, they are the stable ones. We will also meet their lawyer son and Mary, a single woman who has not had much luck in life. Gerri and Tom's home is her haven, but Mary's neediness and fragility will take an emotional and social tole on the group. Another Year is an engaging and complex film that showcases Leigh at his best.
