The Triplets of Belleville takes us back to France in the 1950s. A young boy is raised by his grandmother, Madame Souza. Madame Souza buys the boy a bicycle and dreams that someday he will win the Tour de France. But then he is kidnapped by a couple of gangsters who take him to Paris to use his bicycling skills in a gambling scheme. The grandmother, along with her trusty hound and a trio of aging lady jazz musicians, sets out to rescue the boy. Sylvain Chomet, with the help of beautiful animation, created a cinematic gem that, 20 years on, is considered a classic.
