The film originated from readings of One Thousand and One Nights. But unlike the Arabian tales, Mekas’ stories are all from real life – his experiences in New York, encounters with friends and family, and events in the art world. These are presented in 25 chapters and include some recognizable names such as Louis Garrel, Louise Bourgeois, Harmony Korine, Patti Smith, and Björk.
