My Son the Fanatic

UK 1998 | 97 minutes | English | Hebrew subtitles

A Pakistani taxi driver, who has grown accustomed to living in an industrial town in northern Britain, is pleased to learn that his son is about to marry the daughter of the local police inspector. His joy is cut short when his son becomes a religious fundamentalist, dons religious garb, and brings home an important Qadi who just arrived from Pakistan. Based on Hanif Kureishi's script, this is a romantic film with an ideological edge.
