Fireworks

Japan 1997 | 103 minutes | Japanese | Hebrew subtitles

Nishi is a tough and laconic police detective. He gets embroiled with the mob in trying to procure a loan to run off with his terminally ill wife and take care of a wounded friend. Takeshi Kitano, one of the most outstanding contemporary Japanese directors, plays the role of the wonderful lead character in the film. The film's sober themes are offset by its black humor, and its violence is tempered by tender and poetic moments.
