A 13-year-old girl, forced to move into a new home, arrives with luggage full of shoes. When she crosses the threshold, she will meet her new family. After years in foster care, she is reunited with her biological family. Here she will meet her sister Adriana and get used to a life of material and moral poverty. Giuseppe Bonito beautifully translates the atmosphere of the 1970s, the social, class, and gender tensions, and shows how they shaped Italian society and more importantly, the soul of the film's heroine.
