It All Starts Today

France 1998 | 117 minutes | French | Hebrew subtitles

Daniel is the director of a kindergarten, 40 years old and still an idealist who believes in the power of the educational system. But this belief is challenged in his day-to-day experience: The municipality in the poor northern town where he teaches suffers from a high unemployment rate, parents without means and children who are subsequently neglected. Things only get worse when he tries to help a single mother and fails. On the basis of this simple story, Tavernier creates a sensitive, human drama, serious and touching without being a tearjerker.
