Rahul is a successful young businessman, a respected member of the Toronto Indian community but Western enough to have a white girlfriend. His mother and grandmother are needless to say unhappy with this, and when the girlfriend is conveniently out of the picture, they put the pressure on Rahul to find a nice Indian girl. As usual, Indian-born director Deepa Mehta explores cultural difference and walks the line between east and west. This time she strays from drama and directs an homage to Bollywood in the form of a Hollywood-like romantic comedy.
