Fortysomething Cahit, a man of Turkish origin, is recovering from a suicide attempt. So is Sibel, though her attempt was above all an expression of the desire to break the barriers that her traditional parents set for her. Since that hasn't worked, she thinks of another creative solution: she will marry Cahit and get her parents off her back. The two share an apartment and little else, until love and tragedy unexpectedly creep into their lives.
