Dora makes her living writing letters for the illiterate of Rio de Janeiro’s central station. One morning she witnesses the death of one of her clients, and Dora finds herself taking charge of the woman’s 9-year-old son. Together, the two journey through remote areas of Brazil in search of the boy’s father.
