Led by: Comic Artist Nathalie Frank and Therapist Dr. Martin Auerbach
How do stories of persecution and survival echo through generations? How can art help us explore these inherited memories? In this hands-on workshop, participants will reflect on family history and transgenerational trauma through the expressive medium of comics. Inspired by Art Spiegelman’s work, participants will discover how a few images and words can powerfully express personal and collective stories.
Under the guidance of Nathalie Frank, participants will create a short, individual comic. No drawing or writing experience is required, just openness and curiosity. You’re welcome to bring copies of personal photos or documents to include in your artwork. Throughout the workshop, Dr. Martin Auerbach will share insights from his experience working with Holocaust survivors and their descendants, helping us reflect on how the past shapes the present.
This workshop welcomes members of the second, third, and fourth generations of Holocaust survivors, as well as anyone whose family history includes collective persecution. This is not a therapeutic session, but a space for creative exchange, reflection, and connection.
Limited space. Free of charge. Advanced registration is required.
