Maria’s family envisions the house she will soon build on their plot of land in a Romanian village. For years, her father worked as a truck driver across Europe; now it is Maria’s turn to travel thousands of kilometers between the village and Austria, where she cares for an elderly woman. Interconnected economies of abundance and scarcity—each feeding and relying on the other—are revealed through glimpses into everyday spaces and quiet emotional moments. Through composed, empathetic observation, without slipping into sentimentality, the film weaves a personal story with complex themes of migration, inequality, and the cost of striving for a better life.
