Los Angeles, 1962. During the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis, 52-year-old British college professor George Falconer is struggling to find meaning in life after the death of his longtime partner, Jim. Consumed by the past, George cannot envision a future. We follow him through a single day, as a series of events and encounters lead him to confront his grief and question what lies ahead. Fashion designer Tom Ford's directorial debut is an aesthetic achievement—rich in color, form, lighting, and, of course, costume. Colin Firth delivers a brilliant performance as a deeply moving character who leaves a lasting impression.
