In the class-obsessed and religiously divided United Kingdom of the early 1920s, two British track athletes, one a determined Jew and the other a devout Christian, are driven to win in the 1924 Olympics. But as different as the two competitors may be, their friendship reveals the social pressure and personal turmoil they both experience. Based on a true story, Chariots of Fire received the 1981 Academy Award for Best Picture, Script, Costume Design, and iconic Soundtrack by Greek composer Vangelis Papathanassiou.
