The two great teachers of humanity, Leo Tolstoy and Mahatma Gandhi never met but kept in touch through correspondence in the last years of the writer's life. Their letters exchange, which included a discussion of philosophical, religious, and political issues, is the basis of this film. The film takes place worldwide - in Tolstoy's house in Yasenia Polyana, London, Delhi, and Johannesburg. The two thinkers discussed opposing evil, racism, and intolerance through the philosophy of non-violence. Russia and India have no common border, but Tolstoy and Gandhi shared a spiritual world.
